When I walked into the room he was slumped in the couch, exhausted, but he still managed to smile when he saw me, and that wonderful light danced in his eyes when he did. "You did great today." I said. It was true. Given how close we were to failing, he pulled out one hell of a move at the end, saving all of us. He chuckled a bit. "I wouldn't say that..." I put my hands on my hips. It felt strange not to have my daggers weighing down on them after the day of carrying them. "Stubborn as always." He smiled. "Stubborn~? I think that's you, Kanami~" "Eh?" I laughed a little, myself. "Fine, fine. Modest." "Is that a bad thing~?" I stretched, pulling up one arm with my other hand. "'Course not. Nothin' about you is." "Somehow, Kanami, you always manage to see the best in people." "...Hn? Well, like I said, there's no bad in you~" He just smiled, looking down and away, I saw his cheeks warm a little as he chuckled. Modest, see? "Do you wanna stay in here tonight? I know it's a bit strange being by yourself, when we move around so much." Akio looked up to meet my eye, now. I felt my own face grow hot, but nodded. "It's... better to be with you." I pulled a bullet out of my bullet belt, loosening it enough to let it fall to the floor. He moved aside on the couch, making room for me. I walked over, placing a knee on the couch and sitting on it, my other leg hanging loosely off the edge of it. He twirled my hair, delicately as always. I leaned forward, and kissed him. I was probably a little firm, but when we pulled away he smiled, leaning his forehead against mine. "Ne, Kanami?" "...Yeah?" "I love you..." I grinned. "I love you, too."
